Alisha Pope founded the Muse Legacy Foundation after experiencing personal loss, health challenges, and life-changing moments that reshaped her perspective on wellness, healing, and purpose.
After losing her mother, Linda Muse Pope, and her aunt, Debbie Muse Carter, to heart disease, Alisha became deeply passionate about educating and empowering women to prioritize their health while navigating the demands of everyday life.
Her journey became even more personal through motherhood, caregiving, grief, and her own commitment to improving her health and well-being. Through lifestyle changes and dedication to heart health awareness, Alisha was honored with the American Heart Association’s Lifestyle Change Award in 2024.
In 2026, she was selected as a nominee for the American Heart Association’s Woman of Impact campaign, where she raised awareness and funding to support heart health initiatives throughout the community. That experience further inspired the creation of The Muse Legacy Foundation — a nonprofit organization rooted in compassion, education, prevention, wellness, and support for women and families.
In 2026, Alisha’s sister, Kia Pope, was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer after a routine annual visit led to further testing. Her diagnosis, treatment, and decision to publicly share her experience became another powerful reminder of the importance of prioritizing our health, keeping routine appointments, asking questions, and being proactive about recommended screenings.
Inspired by Kia’s courage and her desire to use her experience to encourage other women, The Muse Legacy Foundation expanded its work to include breast health and breast cancer awareness through Kia’s Courage, an initiative dedicated to breast health education, early detection awareness, compassionate support, and community resources.
What began with the loss of two beloved women has continued through the courage and resilience of another. Each chapter has strengthened the Foundation’s commitment to helping women understand that caring for themselves is not selfish—it is necessary.
For Alisha, The Muse Legacy Foundation is more than an organization—it is a living legacy of the women she loves, the lessons their lives have taught her, and her commitment to helping other women live healthier, longer, and more empowered lives.
